Ministry for Foreign Affairs

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia and has the honour to propose the conclusion of the following agreement.

Agreement between the Government of Sweden and the Government of the Republic of Latvia on the termination of the Agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden and the Government of the Republic of Latvia on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments (hereinafter - the Agreement)

1. The Agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden and the Government of the Republic of Latvia on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments (hereinafter - the Agreement on the Protection of Investments), signed in Stockholm on 10 March 1992, shall be terminated.

2. For greater certainty, the Parties to the Agreement agree that paragraph (3) of Article 10 of the Agreement on the Protection of Investments, which extends the protection of investment made prior to the date of termination, shall be terminated and thus shall not produce legal effects after the entry into force of this Agreement.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden proposes that in case the Government of the Republic of Latvia accepts the above mentioned proposal, this note together with the reply note from the Government of the Republic of Latvia shall constitute the Agreement.

The Agreement shall enter into force on the day of the receipt of the notification from the Government of the Republic of Latvia on the completion of its internal legal procedures necessary for the entry into force of the Agreement.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia the assurances of its highest consideration.
